If...

This was written by an friend of mine from Facebook--> Paul Stevenson
I think it is excellently written...and I relate to it alot. I think it is worth sharing!

They say that God is infinite, and that Solomon was the wisest of all kings. Solomon said “the more knowledge; the more suffering.” If God is infinite, then God suffers infinitely. If God suffers infinitely, then existence may very well be God’s way to discover the source of his own suffering.
Humanity suffers due to knowledge, and knowledge comes from experience. So why then do we strive to learn? We call it human nature. We as humans harbor an insane lust for knowledge. Sometimes it can be a great boon, at other times it is nothing more than a devastating blow to our fragile psyches.
We experiment constantly. We tinker with everything from wood carving to the atomic structure. We have mapped the human genome and now we seek to manipulate it. We cannot settle for what we have here on Earth, so we reach for the stars. We are infinitely curious, therefore, infinitely cursed.
In my life I have experienced many things. I’ve felt the sorrow of years of abuse, the blissful oblivion of love, the immense joy of parenthood, the dregs of homelessness, and the highs of easy living. I have been an addict, a lover, a racist, a liar, and for a time, an honest man. I have seen the beautiful creation of life and then watched it disappear in the blink of an eye. You could say that I have experienced many things. I say that I have barely scratched the surface.
That’s just the way we as humans are. We revel in the suffering we bring upon ourselves, while denying that it is that suffering which keeps us going.
If God exists, and this is his plan; I can only thank him for the knowledge, and damn him for the pain.

What Is "Human"?

I love having conversations online. Not too long ago someone asked, "Why are people so judgmental and hypocritical? Why can't they be more human?" This question is quite a paradox for me. I'm not trying to badmouth anyone or generalize, but the question itself is very general so I will keep that theme. We all know there are exceptions to every rule...but no person is perfect so maybe everyone will fit somehow into my explanation.

In my lifetime I have learned that people brush things off until it affects them. They will befriend you and then tell others bad things behind your back. They lie for attention, possessions, and control. They yes you and tell you what they think you want to hear. They insult, prod, give guilt trips, and pressure you to get you to do what they want. They shun, harass, and preach to those outside of their social group. They find differences and divide themselves for any reason.  They are quick to get offended but also quick to offend. They like to be right and if their belief is strong they will explain away any contradiction to it. They can be opinionated, self righteous, and stubborn. They are fair for everyone else and biased toward themselves. Of course everyone does these things at a different level depending on how our personality developed. We treat others a certain way depending on the situation in which we connect. Whatever need we are craving determines our actions and emotions during this interaction. Are we looking for achievement, power, or intimacy? Since no person is perfect, chances are we all lack something and crave it either consciously or subconsciously. These things play a key role in how we interact, influence, and manipulate others. These are all common things that people do...basically what I'm saying is that being hypocritical and judgmental ARE human traits.

Return Of The Butter...

It feels good to have the time to now keep up the blog once more. As some of you know I have been writing a memoir and to put memories into words can be quite challenging, not to mention emotional. Once the memories start to come, they trigger others and so on. I have been meditating alot and looking within myself. It helps me to feel grounded and helps me deal with stress. I love to meditate while going on a long walk in the woods. Sometimes just sitting on a bench or rock and looking out into the trees and the stream that goes through the park that I like to visit. You know once we get too busy in life, sometimes we forget about all of that which is around us.

So now I'm at the point when I need a distraction and that is the perfect excuse to get the blog updated and keep it that way. It will be the same stuff as always....my thoughts and ramblings and dreams and reviews of things....whatever tickles my fancy on a given day. There is always something going through my mind from day to day. I love to reinvent myself...and so I have also started working on getting my website back up as well as changed the theme on this blog. I had to choose this theme...looks like a steamroom heh. If you have any ideas for topics they are always welcome. Glad to be back!

So Butter is back and ready to let you have a peek at my brain everyday. Sorry it has been so long but with writing a book and being a mom, along with other life things sometimes can make it hard to have blog time! But now that MiniMe is out of  school and I can get free time I am grateful to have the time to blog now. I will also be revamping the overall look of my blog so look forward to a few changes! I have 2 in the works now and they will be posted soon so get your goggles ready!
